
Ladakh is one the most beautiful places in the world, very famous for its natural look, nature and beauty. Its names give the meaning of the โland of high passesโ as one has to pass various passes to go there… It is a mountainous far away and a remote region located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir attached with India.
Being the biggest plateau in the state it has covered the areas of Himalaya, Kunlun and the Indus valley regions. It has a prominent relation with Tibet in various factors such as its culture and history and its current way of living with its sharing border with Tibet in its east.

The residents of Ladakh are mostly Indo-Aryans and some belongs to the Tibetan descents. Ladakh was well-known for its strategic importance being in the middle of world trade routes till 1960 when the Chinese government finished its trade.
In the past there were many wars among India and china about the Ladakh areas which came into an end after an agreement between them. Now it is under the authority of the Indian government but it has its own councils for managing the region.

There is a MPA in the Indian parliament representing the Ladakh. Shia Muslim is the biggest faith in Ladakh along with Tibetan Buddhists but there is also a small percentage of Hindus and christens as these religions do not have too much impact on the area. Leh is the largest town there.
The history of Ladakh goes back to the Neolithic time with its monuments and carvings found in the region. Ladakh has faced many earth quakes in the past. Yaks among animals and the black necked crane among birds are the most famous there.

The economy of the Ladakh mainly depends upon the tourism of the region which has been increased in last few years.
