
Lake Tahoe is one of the deepest fresh water lakes in California, United States of America. The lake is along the border between Nevada and California and west of Carson City. It is one of the largest alpine lakes in North America and has a depth of around 1,645 feet.
It is the sixth largest lake by volume at around 122,160,280 acres in Unites States.
It was formed 2 million years ago during the modern ice ages. The Lake Tahoe is known for its clarity and the panorama of mountains that surround it.
The surrounding mountains give an edge to the neighboring communities that generate hefty revenue due to the tourist spot.
The area is also known as Tahoe. It is also home to a number of Ski resorts and outdoor recreation attractions.
The Nevada side of the lake includes large casinos, restaurants and hotels for the tourists. The lake is adjoined through highways both through Carson City and Sacramento.

The lake is also a popular spot among the Hollywood shooters. Many movies, series have been shot at the place including Bonanza, TV series, The God Father part 2, Last Weekend and A place in the Sun.
It can be reached by car, bus through the highways or through a train. The nearest train service is Amtrak station in Truckee. The train runs daily between San Francisco and Chicago.
It takes around two hours from Sacramento to visit the lake while it takes just one hour from Carson City through Highways but the traffic can be heavy during holidays.
